Fasano

Fasano stretches itself in a bed of olive trees between the Murgia and the Adriatic sea. Its history and its rich landscape make Fasano one of the most famous tourist site of Apulia. The historical and architectural heritage goes from the megalithic age to the baroque, passing through the messapic roman and medieval ages.
>From the Dolmens to Egnatia remains, Fasano was a messapic city, an important roman centre along the traiana road whose roman finds could be seen in the National Museum.
 
Along the sea-coast, the rupestrian villages hollowed through the rocks and the
beautiful crypts, are the evidence of the cave dwelling which marke the beginning of the 11th century.
 
The hills, once a thick woodland, nowadays is a beautiful garden with villas and old Trulli. The Selva offers good hotels which give hospital in a landscape full of pure air, a secco” low walls and the dazzun white of Trulli. The horizon of the blue line of the sea with its coves along the Savelletri cliffs, an old fisherman’s village; the beautiful shores of Torre Canne and the thermal baths, one of the most modern thermal spa in Europe with its wide mange of hidro-mud therapies housed in a splendid hotel.
 
Along the wide expanse of olive trees, the fortress farms with its hypogeous oil mills, walls, towers represents an important stage for the rural culture history. Today some of them are agritourist structures for an original and unusual holiday. The historic centre between narrow streets and whitened walls. is very rich in baroque heritage (palaces and churches). A page in the local history, the victory over the turks in 1678, every year is celebrated with the historic parade of the “scamiciata”, during the Madonna del Pozzo and Saint John the baptist’s feast.

delfinarium, restaurants, bars, shops drive-in and more than 30 attractions which make Fasanolandia one of the most important touristic place in Apulia.
